The definiton of personal data

Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person ('data subject'); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person;

What type of personal data do we process?

We process those of your personal data that we receive in the course our business relationship with you. The types of personal data we process can include your name, address, contact details, e-mail address, your ID data. In addition, this may include order data (e.g. payment orders), sales data, advertising data, and data for the fulfilment of our legal obligations. These data are either obtained directly from you or provided to us by third parties, such as our partner companies.

What is the purpose of processing your personal data?

We process your data for the following purposes:

  • To fullfil pre-contractual measures and contract obligations with you based on our business relationship. (E.g.: Delivering your order, creating the invoice etc...)
  • If you have given us your consent for contacting you for the purpose of sending promotions, offers
  • For the fullfilment of our fiscal and other legal obligations
  • To fullfil our obligations in context to the services that you voluntarily use through our smartphone applications.

Your consent to allow us to process your data is voluntarily. You can refuse to give your consent. However, your consent to process your data is required for successfully establishing the business relationship with you, to process, and ship your ordered products, to mantain and provide the services you use while using our smartphone applications. If you don't give your consent or provide us with data, we generally have to refuse to sign a contract or implement an order or we can terminate an existing contract due to no longer being able to execute it or we have to stop providin the services of our smartphone application to you

How long is your data stored?

We will store your data only for as long as necessary for the purpose of which the data was collected. In any case, we will store your data for as long as we are obliged to do so by law (legal retention times) or if periods of limitation for potential legal claims have not yet expired.

To whom do we disclose your personal data and for what purpose?

We will only disclose on your personal data to the extent required for the fulfilment of the objective of the business agreement. We only give your data to such persons or legal entities who need them for the fulfilment of contractual and/or legal obligations.

The persons or entities to which we disclose your personal data are

You are entitled to all the rights decribed in the applicable law ("GDPR"). These are the following:

  • You have the right to know whether and which personal data we are processing and you have the right to receive copies of these data
  • You are entitled to require deletion or correction of the personal data that is processed not in conformity with the law
  • You have the right to disagree with the processing of personal data and to make a complaint to a data protection supervisory authority within the EU.
  • You are entitled to require us to limit processing your data to only those activities that are necessary for fullfilling our legal requirements
  • You are entitled to require data portability and be informed about the third parties to whom personal data are disclosed.

The use of the Remootio smartphone application and the corresponding web services

As we value our users' privacy the Remootio app only sends personal information to our databases when it is necessary for the enabled feature. By just installing the application and using your device via Bluetooth or local Wi-Fi no information will be shared. Below we describe the different scenarios where data will be shared and that might be subsequently processed by us.

  • Shared data when registering a Remootio account for smart home hub access: E-mail address
  • Shared data when enabling the EasyConnect feature: The name of the respective key, serial number of your Remootio device
  • Shared data when enabling notifications that require EasyConnect feature: The name of the respective key, serial number of your Remootio device: The name of the shared keys where you enabled to receive notifications when your gate or garage door was operated, the languge of your Remootio application
  • Shared data when performing a software update for your Remootio device: Serial number of your Remootio devicen
All of the above mentioned data if stored are stored as encrypted data.

 

Cookies on the Remootio website

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory. We use cookies to improve the user experiece of our website's visitor. No data stored in cookies can be associated with the visitor, as these data are pseudonymized. During this process the website might store your language setting of the website, and auto-fill data to input forms into cookies.
